MAKE CHANGE
It's time to come together to ski and ride in support of mental health with Make Change, a CB State of Mind fundraiser in partnership with ACE Hardware-Crested Butte, Crux Pilates, Westen Colorado University and Tully's. The event is simple: register and collect pledges at a rate of ONE PENNY per vertical foot.
Join us to ski or ride from 10:00am to 2:00pm at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. To show that discussing mental health shouldn't be scary, silly monster costumes are encouraged and there willl be awards for the best costumes.
For any questions, please contact makechange@cbstateofmind.org.
Registration Instructions:
- To help reach our goal, we hope that each participant (or team) finds multiple pledge sponsors. This could be Family, Friends, Co-workers or Arch Enemies.
- Please register online or bring a completed pledge card with sponsor names and pledge amounts to the Ski-a-thon registration Tent located at the base area starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 29th. You can also send a picture of your physical pledge card to makechange@cbstateofmind.org.
Pre-event:
- This will be a team or individual event.
- Teams can be made up of 5 individuals.
- Between now and March 29th, individuals and teams will solicit pledges from friends, relatives, business, etc.
Event Day (March 29th):
- The ski-a-thon will take place March 29, 2026. Tallies will commence at 10:00am and conclude at 2:00pm.
- Only the Ten Peaks Area (Painter Boy, Gold Link, Prospect) Lifts will be counted, snowpack dependent.
- To track vertical feet skied, each participant must check in at the volunteer station located at the Base Area.
- A team's total vertical will be the total combined vertical of all team members.
- Each participant will be issued a race jersey that must be always worn in a visible manner while skiing, attempting to cover up your Jersey while skiing will be grounds for disqualification.
- How to MAXIMIZE your vertical feet: Minimize stops, take shorter breaks, start at the beginning, and ski until the end, but do not pass ski past your personal endurance comfort level. It's not worth getting injured.
- How NOT TO MAXIMIZE your vertical feet: Skiing faster than normal speed. This is not a race! All the rules of safe skiing will be applied to all participants. Any participant skiing in anunsafe manner--for example, too fast, especially in the slow skiing zones--will have their pass revoked.
